It is good product and I cut bricks as I needed to. Yet it is not the best cutting tool as I am done with it just by cutting 3’ of brick vertically.I Must buy another blade.
I bought this blade for a heavy duty job i was cutting concrete off steel posts and i thought thid blade would be able to really get down deep but unfortunately it didn't. It's still a good blade and you can use it in metals or thin concrete if you don't own a grinder
The blade works great. I have been using the blade to cut CMU block. It's not as quick as a rotary blade in simple cuts but it goes deeper and is much easier to custom cut notches and angles.
I tried using it to cut about a foot total of existing concrete which was probably poured back in the 40's. The concrete was only about 3" thick and I thought this would cut right through. Nope, after about 5min of the saw on fullblast it only was able to cut about 1 1/2 inches. The blade was super hot, and out of shape after the struggle. Not worth the money...
I'll probably never use this, most of the stuff I cut is done with Diablo's carbide tip blades, I don't do a lot of masonry work. Diablo stuff is great in general, and I'm sure this is too.Bought a couple as gag gifts/keepsakes after the news story broke that Trump's wall was being easily cut through using a sawzall lol. Even wrote in sharpie on the blade that it also cuts through "border walls".
This blade works well enough on mortar and brick (new and old). The trick is to let the blade cool off after a few minutes of use. That way it will last longer. The blade could be a bit thicker. Overall a good product worth the money.
I did not have good results with this cutting a cast iron vent pipe apart. The Diablo carbide blades are the best of all the blades I've tried. I would get a couple of those rather than this. This blade did not hold the diamond grit very long and was not effective compared to the carbides.
This blade was more durable than the diamond Lenox blade I have used before. It is more more rigid and bends less readily when it skips the saw track and bumps the inside of the pipe. The diamond coating seemed to last longer than the Lenox but I can't say for sure. After about 4 or 5 times through a 4" cast iron pipe, it's best days are behind it. It takes about 20 min to get through a 4" CI pipe. The only advantage of the Lenox is that both ends have saw connections.
As far as Diablo blades are concerned, I'm a huge fan. Their saw blades and the Freud name are as good as gold in my book. I even really like their Demo, Bi-Metal and wood reciprocating saw blades. However, I was not impressed by this Reciprocating Saw blade. Don't get me wrong, it got the job done for the most part. Unfortunately, it wore out extremely quick and did not cut as quickly as the replacement blade I purchased at Lowes. I bought this to do some plumbing repair at my parents house. It is an older home that still has cast iron sewer pipe. Armed with this blade and a 20v reciprocating saw I wasn't expecting a quick cut. My expectations were right. It took about 15 minutes per cut. This blade made two and 1/2 cuts before losing its edge. I went to Lowes to pick up another blade, which as you can see by this price are not cheap, and ended up with a Lenox Brand blade. That dude finished the 1/2 cut and made 3 more in half the time as the Diablo. That being said, this blade did cut the case iron and as expected it took awhile. I would have been a little happier and probably rated it 4 stars had it not lost cutting effectiveness so quickly. I know cast iron isn't easy on these blades, but the Lenox still has life in it after making more cuts. Now I can't speak to the effectiveness and life span with other materials, but if you are looking at this for cast iron go with another blade.
I am remodeling a bathroom and had to remove the lower half of the wall which had tile. Rather than tear down the perfectly fine plaster on the top half of the wall I decided to make a clean straight cut at the midway point. I chose to use this blade in a Milwaukee sawzall to make the cut.The plaster walls were 3/4" thick 1950's "plaster over drywall" construction (no wire or lath). I was concerned the blade might not last through the job. I considered buying an angle grinder and diamond blade, but that would have set me back near $100. So I took the $15 gamble on this blade and I was pleased with the result.Getting the cut started took a little finesse, but once started this blade worked through it slowly and consistently. It struggled to cut through the metal corner bead, so I swapped the blade out for a metal cutting blade for that one spot and continued on. All of the red "non stick" paint wore off very quickly. I was concerned the diamond grit was coming off at the same rate, but it stayed behind.Overall, decent product. I may use this again if I need to cut a funky shape in cement backer board for the new tile.
