I used these to reinforce my deck framing with pressure treated 4x4s in a Y configuration on each 4x6 post. No stripping at all, pulled the boards together tightly. No complaints at all.
Great ProductOne small complaint lags don't pull in the timbers as stated. You need to use clamps to st timbers then set the screws. You can attempt to use them with just drilling them in. However we you drive them in without the clamps you get tear out between the two and stops the screws from pulling the timbers tight.Adds an extra step.
I bought these last year and loved them. This year I re-did my porch, and bought them again. I know for sure my porch will last for many years. Great product.
Built a gazebo on a hillside this summer and these things are a great way to make solid connections with large diameter wood. Still used some number of 1/2 inch bolts where I needed them but these things are fast way to erect a deck, etc.
For installing a ledger board on a deck, these screws are so superior to lag screws, there is no comparison. We needed to attach over a stucco wall and all the was needed was a small 5/6" hole punched through the stucco, way easier than a big 1/2" one. These screws drive easily, cut their own threads and have so much gripping power, you have to be careful how fast/deep you drive them cuz they will crush your ledger board. Great buy on fantastic screws
I'm using them to tie pressure treated 4x4's together for a raised garden. These things drive clean and fast with my little Milwaukee M12 3/8 drill/driver, and pull down nicely, making their own little counterbore, so the head is flush with the wood.
The best screws I have ever bought. Used this to tie some joists together. Used the left overs to fix a fence that was pulling away from the main post too. once things were brought back into position by these long screws I switched back to a more normal size and took the 6" ones out for use again since they cost so much there's no sense wasting them.
They combine the anchoring power of a lag bolt with the ease of installation of a deck screw. Scratch that, I always strip the heads of deck screws, that never happens with these bad boys.
I work as a carpenter for Six Flags. We call these "track lip screws" and use them on the track lip of our wooden roller coasters. We also use them on the catwalk and pretty much anywhere else you can think of that you might need a really strong fastener; the built in washer just sucks structural members together. They are amazing! Highly recommended!
I first bought this lag screws at Home Depo when I was building a pergola.I loved them they self tap and go in so effortlessly .I needed a bunch to finish my project so I did what I normally do ,went on Amazon to see if I could get a better deal and I did Thanks !!
I am not a builder (although I did make a built-in entertainment center with them), so I can't really speak to construction applications... I have been using these screws for a while, and I would not go back to lag screws! They're extremely easy to drive and rarely split 2X4s. They are extremely strong. The heads never strip. And they look pretty good when exposed (I used them to build all of my studio shelving and tables). Even under extremely heavy use (for those of you who know what it's like to wedge 40lbs of relatively dry clay, I used these to build a wedging table), they don't loosen. I would highly recommend them.
