I am a DIY'er and doing some metal siding for the first time. The starting cleat was supposed to be bent in a Z config but when one leg of the Z was screwed down to the wall an my siding cleat was supposed to then slide under the non secured edge of the Z well I don't think their metal was formed properly since that edge was also tight to the wall. They said to use a 5/1 tool to lift that edge up but these are 10' sticks and idea was not practical at all. So I bought this 12" former and it absolutely did the job 1ft at a time and evenly. It is made of heavy metal and so reforming this 24ga cleat was no problem for it. When I showed the rep of the metal siding he complimented me on my creativity. A good tool to have in your toolbox if you are working with sheet metal of any kind but really worked on my metal siding!
I'm folding 26g galvanized for HVAC ducts. It works, but I've noticed that the jaws spread a bit with use and need to be closed up from time to time. I wouldn't expect that in a USA made tool designed for HVAC use. Other than that, it works well.
Another great drive bar from Malco. This now rounds out my set so I have a 12in, 18in and 24in. Definitely recommend if you make alot of sheet metal by hand. I'm a residential hvac installer and I love it.
What the hell is sheerness? Who decided that was something to give a star rating for? I can’t even find a definition that would make it relevant to anything but pantyhose and yet it’s on every review....ANYWAY......this device is great, did the job perfect.
