Well constructed with sharp point and good-sized handle. Pierces a hole in leather and scratches a line in metal easily. Made in USA appreciated.Caution: mine did not include a safety cap for the point, which is very sharp. I used a piece of heat shrink tubing, a little long, and it works perfectly.

This is a very well made awl. Great for leather work, making holes in plastic or another EDC carry option for self defense. Need I say more?

The carbon steel on this tool seems to be of a good grade - it arrived very sharp, and with a little attention and a light honing it now pierces fabric and leather with little effort. Not stainless, so it will rust, burnish it and keep a little oil on it if you want to keep it shiny. The shaft is smooth enough that it easily opens up the initial hole to the desired size, and the orange handle provides a positive grip. A wine bottle cork (not a composite, but a real cork) makes a handy protector for the pointy end while in the tool box. A good all around tool that will last for decades from occasional use. If I was working leather all day with it I might prefer a gourd style handle to minimize the chance of blisters thanks to the wider contact patch on the palm, but pretty wood handles roll if they don't have a flat, and tend to work loose as the wood shrinks, so unless you plan to use daily and wear out the tool, this is a good choice.
Very handy awl at a good price. I used the 1/8 inch awl to mark drill holes in wood and to "lever out" wood plugs from my hole saw bits. Indispensable when you need one. Strong and sharp and a good value at $3.99 for a made in USA product.
Just needed something to open up the end of cut off bicycle shifter and brake cable housings. Works perfect for this.

VERY NICE
I got this along with some other ones to help removes supports from 3D prints but this one is a little big. I can still use it and its not really what its intended for so I am giving it a 5 as it does what its suppose to do and then some. Its built really well and sturdy.
I got this to punch a hole in some leather. It was inexpensive and worked beautifully.
It took no time for rust to start and yes I'm wipe off after every use
Love these for punching holes in sheetrock for hanging shelves or pictures! Perfect to probe before using a drill. Gave one away already to a friend that has used it for his new home!
Although I didn’t do the project I bought this for, I found a much better use for this awl. POPPING the AIR PILLOWS that come with most Amazon boxes.However, mine did not come with a CAP as advertised! Instead there was heavy brown paper affixed to the tip to protect it. I’ll have to figure something else out. I’m knocking off a couple stars for that, since I bought this one specifically because it came with a cap.

I bought this for ikejime of fish. It works OK on bass, but it is not strong enough or sharp enough to easily penetrate the skull of a carp.
I have started carrying this tool in my work apron all of the time. Really sharp, very strong steel, and fits the hand well. I keep doing things with it like marking wood, poking holes instead of pre-drilling for small screws, and even prying things I probably should use something stronger for. I am really glad to have this thing around. How did I work without it?
This is a great scratch awl / scribe it is very sharp but working with thin sheetnetal it will be fine, as a bonus if you ever get passed at the person you are working with you can see if the Three Stooges on them, Malco should warranty that.

I bought this awl to have in my tire plug kit to make the hole when I pull the item from my tire. It is easy to lose the spot where the plug needs to go and this keeps the location marked (with it still in the hole) and keeps the air from leaking. I also like the thin tang and the handle being smaller as well. It stores easily in the kit I have.
