I installed PEX tubing on top of 1" Blue foam board. I glued the foam board down with almost a tube of foam glue per 4 x 8 sheet... I used A LOT of glue. The boards were tight. I had hopes that I could trust the product info that these would work.... Not even close. When you install the tubing, you must put a bend in the tube as you loop it back and forth. Even a little bit of pressure pops these out.... I used zipties with screw holes for these end loops. The screws went down through the foam board and into the osb. I used these plastic barbs in the straight away areas. They seemed pretty tight so I kept using them. I put about 300 of them down spaced at 12" in the straight areas and used the zip ties on the end loops. I thought it would be ok but as we walked around a bit doing other things, we bumped a few and they just popped up. NO WAY would they stay down when the floor guys would come and drag their hose over them. No way would they stay put when they get bumped or stepped on during the self leveling concrete installation. I'm just glad the kids and I weren't being very careful when we stepped on a few lines and saw what happened. If we hadn't of bumped these before the installation guys came, it would be a big mess of floating hoses and floating plastic barbs....... Maybe there is a use for these but definitely do not trust them to hold your PEX hose to foam board if you can't see where you are stepping. MAYBE if you are the one pouring the self leveling floor AND you don't let the hose drag AND you never step or bump the hose AND you don't use these barbs on any bends..... MAYBE they would work. As for me, I am upset with myself for trusting that these would work. Ug... hopefully I can keep someone from making the same mistake I did. As a note.. I used zip ties from ACE Hardware that have a loop for a screw. Leave them just a little bit loose when you clip off the extra tie. Angle the screw back under the hose so that it pull the hose down. If you just screw it off to the side, the hose can still lift up a little. If you don't angle the screw, as soon as you get a little pressure on the screw, it will snap... again, leave the tie just a little bit loose so that it can spin as the angled screw pulls it down.
