A must have when installing J channels. I don’t understand why there’s negative reviews on this tool. Don’t blame the tool but the incompetency of the user.
Good design, will take some use to become familiar with the right amount of pressure to apply. In general a nice well made tool.
Like every other Malco product this thing is awesome and cuts the way I want it to every time.
Excellent tool for dressing the edges of J-Channel to be used to box around windows or other obstructions. Very solid feel to the "single click" to create a tab with little danger of squeezing too hard and removing the tab completely. With slightly more pressure, it is easy to completely remove the tab piece. It does not feel bulky or awkward to hold and use. Takes a tad of getting used to the gradations on the punch piece, but, hey, aren't we all teachable? I've never had any problems with Malco tools in the past and this device is no exception to that record. I would highly recommend it as an addition to your siding tool kit.
It just seems to blow the whole chunk out instead of being able to fold it over. It will work properly maybe 1 out of 5 times
Work good for the most part. I'm thinking bo to cold weather j channel shrink which make these just slightly to big to fit in 5/8 j. Can't wait to see if they work better once it warms up. I'd still recommend these because I'm pretty sure I'm correct about the temperature making the j channel harder to work with.
As I was trying to save some money I ordered a unit that had been returned. I now know it was returned for a reason. I am sure this tool is great when fully functional but the one I received seems to be partially defective as it only cuts fully through the siding and does not do partial cuts for the drain tabs. It only has the one click and not the two clicks as it should. I haven't returned it as it does do part of the required job.
Did not like the pressure needed to do the partial cut it cut the channel completely off and was hard to get the right pressure to use to get it right.
Will not cut metal/aluminum.
Like other reviews say, hard to control if it would snap all off or leave a tab. Ended up using it to snap all off when required and used snips to cut tabs.
These are the best thing since sliced bread. So quick easy to use . I read some of the reviews and totally disagree with them they will cut a full inch and as little as a half an inch. They work well and I wish I had a stumbled upon these along time ago
Only thing I would like is if it adjust to cut other J-Channel. Will work for Royal building products not for Gentek
Great quality. One of the most important tools you will need for around windows and doors. Easy to use, one click for tabs, squeeze all the way through for clean cutouts. Very happy with my purchase. Would totally recommend this tool.

Arrived when needed & was exactly the tool he needed to put vinyl siding on our shed.
Ordered a “JCCR”, Amazon sent a JCC75R (3/4”) which sent back to be exchanged. Next shipment was marked JCCR on the box, but inside the box was either 3/4” or 1” tool. Cutting head measured 7/8” as seen in the pics.

This tool will not make tab in J-channel.It simply cuts the tab off.Don't waist your money!I would give it zero stars if that was an option.
Sided my entire house alone. This made cutting the j channel slots quick and easy. After a while I stopped cutting 'tabs' only and switched to full slots. Then instead of bending over the tab at the corners I just put a piece of weatherproof tape in the j channel. The tool was a huge time saver.

It takes a bit to get the hang of cutting out tongues or full tabs. When cutting tongues you need to put downward pressure on jmould otherwise risk cutting a full tab. Would be great if it was a 2 stop system with first cutting tongue then 2nd cutting full tab
This is one tool you really need when doing siding ! I used this when I was putting siding on my house and it saves time when it comes to doing your j 's around your windows and doors .

The cutter looks and feels well built, cuts slots like a champ , the tab cuts are not so good. About half of my tab cuts were great and the others would crack the j channel. I tried other pieces of channels and the same. Sending it back, cannot afford to waste any more channel. I think I just got a bad one..

i just couldn't get the hang of it...ended up using tin shears.
I don't see a purpose for this tool whatsoever. The only place I could see it being benificial, is cutting the back out on the piece of J under the window. But who wants to add another tool to their pouch just for this? As far as sides and top go, I can make a more water tight seal that locks together better with only 2 snip cuts per corner. I can also do this much faster with a snips. First you snip your miter, then the back of the channel to match your miter length. Then you fold it down and lock it into the j underneath. This is the proper way to install j channel. Each miter should be locking in 2 places, whereas this tool eliminates 1 of those. It's an interesting tool, but definitely a downgrade to a good install with a snips. Sorry Malco, I do love your swiper!

my husband and I are renovating a rental property...used this tool for doing J-channel siding work...it made the work go so much faster...would highly recommend...
This is a quality tool as all Malco tools are. However, I thought I would be able to partially notch the J Channel and bend down the resulting tab for water runoff. It seems that you can only make a full notch, which removes the tab. So, this tool is not that usefull to me.
