I use them for standing seam roof
I bought this to make relief cuts in upholstery vinyl; it works great. Makes clean cuts without leaving any "hanging chads". If it opened a little more it would be a little easier to use. (I have not actually tried it on metal.) Good quality, well made tool.
Awesome tool to have in your sheet metal tool bag.

Cuts notches in 26 gauge metal

At an estimate of over 200 pieces of straight duct notching they start to wear out. Sometimes they get stuck and the notches don’t shear completely off. It gets annoying when notching straight duct for a good 3+ hours in the day. The Midwest brand are better, I havnt had an issue and been using those for 8+ years

Im a sheet metal worker and I use them every day at work
I work all day building HVAC duct and fixtures. I use my notchers at least a hundred times a day. This brand is the only brand that makes notchers that cut 1 inch deep so I am stuck with this brand. There is 2 things that go wrong with these notchers. First after about 1 month the locking bar starts locking on its own after every 2 or 3 notches I make. This is very annoying so I had to wrap a rubber band around the tool to keep it unlocked. The next thing is they start going dull after 3 to 4 months and after 6 months they are so dull they kill your hands to use all day. I would think for the price you pay for these they would stay sharp for at least a year. I can not find another manufacturer that makes a 1 inch notcher so I am stuck with Malco. Just wish they made better quality tools.

This tool works great! Has stayed nice and sharp after significant use. Does twice the job in half the time!
