Really well designed and made. True professional quality that will give years of reliable service. Bought it to enable installation of a fence system I had to install on one of my projects. Exactly what I needed. Exactly as advertised
I first used the unit in cold weather and it created many holes instead of notches. Later in warm weather it probably made 40% holes, and 60% notches. I recommend trying another product.
Worked with some other notchers and these work just as well. These type of tools are a bit pricy if you ask my opinion, but this was the least expensive place I could find them. This is the perfect sized notcher for the rails that have the large or small inner channels. It fits both, but it still wide enough to hold the rails in place. If I need another pair, I will check for these first.
Tested on broken rail--worked like a charm. Cuts like a knife in butter. Doesn't require lots of hand strength. Then cut slots on new rail and installed with no problem.
Did the job, but the handles are a bit short to give good leverage. Would do better with longer handles. You have to squeeze pretty hard to get it through the vinyl. I found that by heating the rails with a hair dryer made it easier and also prevented breakage.
These are expensive, but indispensable. When I moved into my new place, I needed to repair several sections of rail. This greatly facilitated the effort and ultimately saved me a lot of money compared to having to pay a professional to do it for me.
