I've used these Simpson strong-ties before. They are high quality. Amazon's price is only $2 or $3 less than brick and mortar stores but hey, good quality construction materials are expensive nowadays and I saved a little by getting them at Amazon and didn't have to drive to the store. I used them to build a roof over a 21' x 14' deck and extended the overhang 2ft. Used them in 6"x6"x 12' posts and 2x8 double headers.Very solid roof.

Worth it. Work great in every way. A revelation after decades of lag bolting.Most important, do not just buy structural screws like this, but buy These Exact Screws. Okay, change the length as needed.But don't get the ones at Lowe's and other places. FastenMaster I especially hate as they use some stupider driver. T40 is an excellent drive method, works great. Haven't had one slip out ever, etc.I DO drill a clearance hole in the forward board of two to fasten, to assure the screw pulls the two together, and then you get board interface friction holding, not relying on screw strength for all dimensions. But it is as advertised, even in crazy things like hardwood trees, you can drive straight in, no pilots.

Simpson Strong-Tie SDWS22400DB-R50 3/4x4 Star Drive Washer Head Double-Barrier Coating Steel Structural Screws, 50/Box

These are excellent for attaching ledger boards or other applications where 2" lumber has to be secured to other 2" boards especially when other material is between and has to be penetrated to reach the secure material. The very large , thin, flat star drive head make them easy to drive with great holding power and the head will end up being nearly flat with the surface of the board.

Worked great. Used them to attach a 2x10" header to 2x4" studs. Despite common usage there are engineering sheets and load data for using this fastener when attaching boards to studs through drywall.The fasteners went in relatively easy with minimal predrilling. The torx bit it comes with was very tough and is still in good condition even though all of the fasteners have been used.

Simpson Strong-Tie SDWS22400DB-R50 3/4x4 Star Drive Washer Head Double-Barrier Coating Steel Structural Screws, 50/Box

Way easier than drilling/driving lags. I substituted these for the recommended 5/8 bolts + nails in my deck ledger. Fewer and smaller penetrations than the alternate. Simpson even published an alternate Appendix M for NC building code to match up spacing requirements for these screws with the bolts/nails requirements. Inspector asked that I use 3 or 4 bolts just to be safe, but that's better than having to drill 14 of them out.I also used them to secure the rim joists and blocking for the railing posts to prevent pullout and avoid costly post-anchoring hardware
